The treatment usually takes place in a single appointment. The duration of the treatment is approximately 60 minutes. Professional teeth cleaning is generally painless. If you have sensitive teeth or gums, please contact us - we will find a painless solution for you.
Before Treatment
Initially, the dentist or prophylaxis assistant takes the patient's medical history and enquires about any previous illnesses. The patient receives information about the treatment and the importance of regular tooth cleaning. If necessary, an X-ray of the teeth is taken to detect any caries or other diseases. If an X-ray is already available and brought to the appointment, the treatment can start directly.
Removing plaque and tartar
The process begins with staining the teeth using a plaque test, which helps to visualize plaque and tartar accumulation clearly. Special instruments are meticulously used to remove any tartar present on the teeth. The next step involves eliminating plaque and any discolorations. This is achieved either through the use of the EMS-Prophymaster or a similar powder jet device, ensuring the teeth are thoroughly cleaned and free from unwanted build-up.
Finishing Touches
In the final stages of dental cleaning, teeth are polished with a paste that smooths and shields them. They're then sealed with fluoride agents to prevent decay. The session also includes discussions on healthy eating habits and demonstrations of effective home oral hygiene tools.
After Treatment
After the procedure, the patient receives information on further oral hygiene and the frequency of professional tooth cleaning. We’re also open to any questions about further enhancement of your smile’s appearance, be it by having a whitening treatment or an orthodontic treatment with f.e. aligners to straighten possible crowding which makes proper hygiene more difficult.
